Clayton C. Cannon
With over 25 years of experience in construction, real estate and business litigation in Houston, Texas with both a local and regional law firm, Clayton formed Cannon Law Firm PLLC in 2016. Clayton’s practice includes litigation of commercial and residential construction cases.
He has extensive experience handling a variety of construction issues, including foundations, roofing and roofing materials, HVAC systems, windows, exterior siding systems, drainage and site preparations and building code compliance. Clayton also regularly handles delay claims as well as construction payment, lien and bond claims.
Clayton’s clients include owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, building material manufacturers and suppliers, architects and engineers. In addition to his construction and real estate practice, Clayton represents clients in the logistics and freight forwarding industry. He also regularly counsels clients in complex insurance coverage matters.
Clayton has tried numerous jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations. He has argued appellate matters before several Texas Courts of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Clayton earned his B.A. in Accounting from Texas A&M University in 1988 and his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1991.
Clayton recently served as Chair of the Construction Law Section of the Houston Bar Association. Clayton has also served for many years as co-chair and presenter for construction law conferences.
He is also a fellow with the Construction Lawyers Society of America.
